Our trip to the British Museum was certainly incredible. It was great to see all the things in person that we had only seen in books before - to actually touch and see statues and sculptures as old as 3400 BC, it was amazing to have something of this ancient civilization right before us.

There was an overwhelming amount to take in, we will definitely have to come back again.
We were fortunate to chance on this stela of Shamsi Adad King of Assyria at the time of Joseph - we had just been reading about him the previous week, he was a nasty man.
Wow - a real mummy - some had accompanying x-rays on display to see the actual bodies inside.
We finally get to see real canopic jars - and some still had the organs inside.

We all admired their cooking pots and jars - they were beautifully made and seemed very strong too - I wouldn't have minded those in my kitchen.
Eden couldn't wait to actually see this - a solid gold pharoah coffin.

Wow lots of interesting things to see there. Doug preached on Sunday about Joseph being transported back to Canan in a sarcophagus made of stone as well.
I'm sure the children will always remember this visit and what they saw.. best way to learn.
