Camping Trip to Bath - Day 3

The day before we left we had planned to go to the spa, but unfortunately the did not allow children under 12 in the spa, but they recommended that we go to the leisure centre for a swim(the children desperately wanted to swim as we had their costumes packed and had put the idea in their heads). We were pleasantly surprised when we got there, the pools had two big indoor supertubes and baby slides and water features for the little ones. Mike spent the whole time going down the tubes with the children, and Ciara and I played in the little ones section, she absolutely loved going down the small slide into the water.
Waking up in the morning, Eden talks to the birds singing. She had woken up the earliest at 6 and had heard a woodpecker tapping away, so she quickly got up and dressed and was so pleased to see one tapping away in the tree just outside our tent, it was a great spotted woodpecker which we had learnt about in our bird theme last year, so she was familiar with the bird and so excited to spot one.

After the swim, we took a walk through Bath. This is the River Avon which runs through Bath.
We stopped at a beautiful park and had our lunch and bought a tea and coffee from the little kiosk.
The park was lovely and we could see the beautiful Bath buildings from it.

Unfortunately we didn't get photos of three amazing cats that Eden befriended. I was in the tent and a cat pitched up and went straight into Eden's room(it had not been there before), I thought it was stray and shooed it away, but later found out that it was cat that Eden had made friends with and it had come specially to look for her(clever cat knew exactly where she slept). These three cats belonged to a lady who lived permanently at the camp site. The amazing thing was that these cats followed her everywhere just like a dog would. In the afternoon the lady came around to our tent to see if Eden wanted to go for a walk with her and the cats(have you ever heard of cats going for a walk like a dog?), so Eden and Niamh both went for an hour long walk with this lady and her cats, amazing. It was so lovely to hear when she returned how much she had enjoyed our childrens company. She had said that in this day and age it is not normal to be able to have a conversation and a pleasant time with children, but said how lovely it was to be with Eden and Niamh and have many conversations with them. We shared with her that they are homeschooled so may be different to the normal child of today, and she attested to the terrible state of the children who attend the school across the road from her sister, supposedly a very good school. She said the language and behaviour of the children is appalling. I know this is the not the case of all school children, but it was lovely to see our children had stood out for her in such a positive way. She has taken our address and had taken photos of the children with all her cats which she has promised to send on to us.
