We came across a few old games while clearing out the loft, and Jude thought it was Christmas presents all over again. We did however buy Monopoly to play with the children over this holiday.

Eden and Niamh love this game and I wonder why I didn't think about playing it with them before. It is such good practice for adding up and taking away too, giving change and paying for things. Mike and I have rediscovered how addictive it is and unfortunately we were just getting started on buying hotels when we had to pack it away for evening church, next time we will have to start on a Saturday morning.
Niamh got into it straight away, and had by far the most money by the time we packed up.
I had to get this photo of Jude and Ciara doing a puzzle together. Normally they don't want help from each other, but figured out a good way of doing it together, Ciara would look for a piece that would fit, and Jude would put it in place.

And getting a high five from daddy.
Niamh was very pleased to finish her cross stitch and has found a passion for needlecraft. We will have to look into finding her some more to do.
Every now and then daddy will make tea for all the children, and Ciara really enjoys having a cuppa with her daddy.
Mike and I started watching the series of Jane Austen's Emma on BBC iplayer. We did not think the children would enjoy it, but they all ended up watching it with us, and because all the episodes were on iplayer already, we were able to finish it over two days, with the girls getting really excited about the next episode. The period houses are splendid and really shows off how beautiful England is in spring, summer and autumn. After doing a bit of internet research we found out that one of the period houses used in the movie is very close to where we live so it will be exciting to go and visit it as soon as the weather warms a bit. The other houses and villages are in Kent so not too far either, and definitely worth a visit in the spring or summertime.

What year was this Emma produced? Our movie rental company has one by BBC that was done in 1972. The write up says "This BBC production, set in the small town of Highbury depicts the often hilarious attempts of Miss Emma Woodhouse to make proper marital matches for all of her friends. Though often mistaken in her judgement, she is counseled and criticised by her neighbor and brother-in-law, the wise Mr. Knightley whose attentions to her are motivated by more than brotherly love."
Directed by John Glenister. Is this the same one? Your one looks a lot more modern.
What do Ciara and Jude do while you play monopoly? Would love to do more with Rachel but it's a bit hard with the younger two wanting to be involved in everything. :-)
