My dad(who lives in South Africa) has been experiencing trouble with his big toe. It first started when his toe nail came off, and over the next few weeks his toe started giving him more trouble and more pain. When he went to the doctor they said that it looks as if he may lose his toe. Eventually he saw a doctor who said they would operate on his toe and remove all the dead tissue surrounding his bone in the hope to save his toe. They performed the operation approximately two weeks ago and he went home the same day. He was in a lot of pain the first night but by the next day it seemed like his toe felt better than it had in weeks and he had hope that it would heal ok. However things did not get better and he went through a week of excruciating pain. When the doctors undressed it they did not like what they saw at all. There was no healing taking place due to very bad blood flow to his toe. They therefore decided to amputate the toe this Tuesday just gone. When he came out of the operation the surgeon had very bad news. He told my dad that there was a big chance of him losing his whole foot. Naturally this news was really difficult for my dad to take. My dad then went home and was in unbearable pain, and his foot swelled up. He should have stayed at hospital instead of going home that same day. He had a terrible night on Tuesday night with no sleep and returned to hospital on the Wednesday where he has been put onto a pain relief drip. On Friday(tomorrow) the surgeon wants to remove the dressings to check if any healing has begun to take place. He will then decide whether or not his foot needs to be amputated.
My desire is that you pray for healing to take place tonight and a good diagnosis tomorrow. Of course we know that the Lord moves in mysterious ways and he may have a purpose in all of this, but we may still pray for healing and that my dad would draw near to the Lord in this time of intense pain and sad news. James, Grant and myself are feeling like we wish we could be with my dad right now, and it is hard at times like these to be living in another country, but again we know the Lord's plans are good for our lives.

Will certainly keep your dad in our prayers. Also that you guys may be comforted in being away from him.
Where is he based, Fiona?
Still here in SA?
Keep us posted of any changes.
