Going for a long walk

We promised the children last week that they could go on the land train at Kew Gardens this Saturday, but when we got to the train the queue was so long due to the long weekend that we had no choice but to walk. We walked around the gardens and managed to nearly go right around the whole place, and again saw many places that we had never before. This really helped the children to not think about their sadness over Ruby's death, and really helped lift everyones spirits.
Ciara was adamant to walk, she did not want to go in her push chair at all. We think she is making up for all the walking she missed out on the past few months, because she must've walked a few km's.

We enjoyed seeing the amazing Redwoods(Sequoias), these are babies compared to the ones that reach 2200 years and are some of the tallest trees in the world.
Last year we started studying trees in July/August so many of the wonderful trees had lost their flowers already. It has been truly magnificent to witness all the flowers on the trees this Spring, and we were very excited by the one below which is the flower of the Tulip tree. Last year Niamh asked why it was called a Tulip tree and now we know why, the fruit bears a strong resemblance to a tulip flower.
