APC Church Holiday 2010 - Part 2

To encourage the younger people to get to know the older at our church, a small competition was held in which the children had to collect information from the 30 eldest men and women on holiday - information like where they were born, what their job is, the names of their brothers and sisters, and then they had to in turn ask the younger people questions too. The first one to collect info from all 30 members would win £5. Eden was so enthusiastic about this and rushed off to find all the people on the list - the great thing is she spoke to a lot of people that she never had before.
She finished the list quickly.
And was so happy to finish first and win the £5.

Lots of inflatables were on the top field which of course the children thoroughly enjoyed.

This year was the first time we were able to allow Eden, Niamh and Jude swim when we weren't there. The rule is there must always be 3 adults present so they were safe and watched, but it gave them a great chance to swim for hours. They also enjoyed jumping off the diving board.

This was an inflatable cum obstacle race, Dan was wearing the proper velcro suit which is designed to slow you down throughout the inflatable, perhaps this was how Jude managed to beat him.

Lastly on the Friday night we had our revue. The children all wanted to do something on stage, so I thought instead of calling them up one by one(which would be a lot of calling up), we would create a scene in which they could all do what they wanted to do. They wanted to sing the "Cauliflowers Fluffy" song, Niamh wanted to play violin, Jude wanted to say his poem, so I came up with the idea of having a family restaurant on stage. Niamh would be the music for the restaurant, Jude's poem was called "Beans on Toast" so that would be his food order, the song was about food, and Michael loved the idea of being a waiter and owner of this French (or is it Spanish) restaurant. Well as these things go, we did not get a chance to rehearse all week, and then on the Friday everyone wanted to rehearse, so we only managed to squeeze 30 mins in to get it all planned and rehearsed. Needless to say that was not enough, the mics were not set up properly so no-one could hear Jude's poem, the girls made a mistake in the song which Niamh starting shouting about on stage(no idea about ad libbing at the age of 7), and although we could hear Mike on the night, his voice doesn't come through on the video, so I doubt you will get a good idea of what it was about but we'll put the video up for memories anyway. Still everyone enjoyed our contribution and even thought the mistake was part of the performance, but in future years we will rehearse a wee bit more. Eden played a duet that she composed with her friend Lydia, and then played a solo piece which didn't go down to well either after she had problems switching the piano keyboard on.
